The principal weapon for most pilots is the Beam Laser, as they are available in a
variety of sizes. The 1MW version is a good weapon for small fighters, as it will
destroy most pirates without too much trouble while still remaining small enough to
fit in a Viper or Cobra, whereas the 4MW version is used by small traders, and the
20MW Beamer is often employed as a secondary weapon for large traders. All except the
1MW Beam Laser need to be used with Laser Cooling Boosters, as they heat up very
rapidly. The 100MW Beam Laser is seldom used, as even with a cooling booster the
weapon can only fire for a few seconds.
