Negotiations With The Police

If you tell the police "I didn't do it", they will always "increase your fine" to 600 Credits - even if your fine was more than 600 credits to start with. This imakes it viable to try to bribe the police - even if they won't take a 250CR bribe, you still don't have to pay the full fine or the extra fine for attempted bribery.

Increasing your ELITE Rating Fast - II

Shooting the moon Demios (in the Sol system, orbiting Mars) with a 30MW mining laser increases your kills by one every time you hit the moon. Buy a Mining Laser, point it at Demios, put time acceleration up to the maximum and hold down the fire key - soon you'll get a message saying "Right on, Commander!". Put time acceleration back on, and repeat until your ranking reaches ELITE.

Very rapid deceleration

If you have maximum time acceleration on, and you have a starport or space station targetted, then if you are close to the starport, activating your Autopilot will slow you down enough for you to dock at it, no matter how fast you were going. This means that you can accelerate all the way into a system, significantly reducing the amount of time it takes to get to the starport.

Free Money

In the UK version of the game, if you try to trade in a ship with a passenger on board, you get a messsage saying you can't sell the ship, but the money for the deal still gets charged. Therefore, if you have a passenger on board and you try to trade in the ship for something cheaper, you get money added to your account. This bug has been fixed in the US and CD versions of the game.

More Accurate Missiles

If you fire a missile then immedeately switch maximum time acceleration on, it will always hit. However, remember that you must be more than 20km from your target to turn on time acceleration.

Getting from System to System much faster - "Wormholes"

Due to a bug in the UK version of the game, after a certain distance the computer starts to interpret distances as starting from 0 again. This distance is 81.62 sector lengths, or 655.36 light years, so a system 659 Light years away would only be seen as 3.64 light years away. This also works for all multiples of 655.36LY, so a distance of 1310.72LY would also be seen as nothing. This can be exploited, as a system lying 656 light years from two seperate systems, 25 light years apart(say), could be used as a waypoint - two jumps of half a light year still adds up to almost no time, whereas to travel 25 Light Years takes several weeks in most ships.

Several "Wormhole Calculators", which calculate the locations of intermedeate systems between any two given co-ordinates, are available on my
Downloads Page, and there is also a list of intermedeate systems available here

How To Gain Rank Much Faster (courtesy of Ocker)

With the use of the the Auto-Pilot bug (high speed to docking), it is possible to achieve APE (Admiral Prince ELITE) status in as little as 12 years (game time)

The well known Facece-Vequess-Sohoa triangle and Eta Caseopia-AC+79°3888 runs are most suitible
When you have taken all the deliveries for a system, Hyperspce to a very close system and return (be sure to use the Auto-Pilot bug), sometimes on the same day.... and you will find that the delivery BBS has "ReFilled".

Using this method, you can Fill the page with deliveries ( 59 at most ) and still get (most,if not all) to the destination on time and will gain 118 points per trip of 7-14 days.
The same method can be used for Photo and Bombing missions (max=6) that will give you 120 points, with much more time to spare.

IF you are Really good, you can combine them for a max of 238 points per trip ,but i have found this to be "Un-realistic" and almost impossible

SOME BASIC MATHEMATICS

To gain Prince/Admiral Rank : points needed 20,736 x 2 = 41,472
or 20,736 deliveries
20,736 devided by 118 (59 deliveries on 1 page) = 176 pages, x 2 = 352
352 pages (@ 10 mins per page) = 58.7 hours (real time)
352 pages (@ average of 10 days per page) = 9.9 years (game time)
(This of course depends on the ship you have, if you take NO other missions)
